Carlos Santos Patina Service For The Noble Shoe
Introducing the Carlos Santos Patina Service
It is finally time for The Noble Shoe to proudly introduce the famous Carlos Santos Patina Program. A flexible Made To Order (MTO) Service that lets you choose and customize your shoes with a plethora of options.
You get to choose from 18 Different Styles in certain lasts and make ups and then you apply the Patina Color of your choice. The available Basic Colors are 12 but extend up to 20 for special requests. The options are endless with amazing colors of all spectra and hues.
As soon as you make your selection and pick a size, we send a notice to the Carlos Santos Factory in Portugal where the hand-painting begins. It takes between 4-6 weeks depending on the season and volume of work until your pair is finished.
Hand Painted Unique Patinas
The Shoes are originally produced in their undyed "crust" leather. After the order is placed they begin to Hand Paint your pair with the color of your choice. Due to the fact that this is a Hand Painted process, each pair will have slight differences in hue and variations. It is important to note that those are NOT imperfections rather than unique "bespoke" characteristics. No pair by Carlos Santos will ever be exactly the same, giving you this personal feeling.
Of course, this also means that your pair will vary slightly from the color in the pictures.
18 Different Styles
There are so many options to choose from! From timeless classics to elegant modern designs and casuals. You can order from UK 5 up to UK 12 including Half Sizes. Please check the sizing tab for quick conversions to US and EU sizes. Here is the full list of models with their lasts:

Information About Sizing & Lasts
You can read everything about Our Lasts Here.
As a quick note, most lasts available on the Patina Program tend to fit large and you should size down half your regular Carmina Rain, TLB Mallorca, Meermin Hiro and Park Avenue or C&J sizing. Size down one 1.5 full size from your regular US size! Of course do not hesitate to contact us for information and advice.
Take an 1.5 size down from your regular US size on the 316, 333, 397 Lasts. Also take 1.5 size down on the Jodhpurs, Boots, Monks & Chukkas on the 401 Last and 234 Last.
Taking Care of your Patina Shoes
For beginners we recommend using a gentle Neutral Polish or Wax such as the Saphir 1925 Neutral 02. Do not over-polish and always use cedar shoe trees after use. Do not dry next to heat sources and never leave your shoes under direct sunlight. The leather will dry and crack. Store them in a nice cool area and preferably in their dust bags.
You can order your polish and wax through The Noble Shoe in the Accessories & Shoe Care Menu.
Of course, all Carlos Santos Shoes come with a high quality box, black dust bags and a branded shoe horn.
Return Policy on the Patina Service

Carlos Santos shoes exactly as described. Incredibly comfortable. Great color and patina. Kostas incredibly responsive. Highly recommend.
Carlos Santos 6903 Handgrade Wholecut Oxford In Coimbra Patina GMTO + shoe trees.
Back in June I asked Kostas advise on the sizing of the Carlos Santos shoes in comparison with brands that I own. The advise that I got was spot on. Shoes delivered as promised. Stunning shoes and support all the way! My first pair of shoes and shoe trees that I ordered at The Noble Shoe....but certainly not my last ones.
Thank you Kostas.
Happy to receive your shoes with high quality and the whole process from purchase online is simple and easy! Will definitely come back when I buy my next leather shoes!
My 4 pairs of Carlos Santos shoes arrived and I was very excited!!! Black, Brown, Brownish-Yellow, and Blue! (the blue ones I was excited about the most:) I had read about the quality and looks and... WOW! They indeed look amazing! However, once I put them on there was something noticeably missing, arch support - let alone PROPER arch support. I went ahead and wore the blue ones to work to give them a fair shake, and at the end of the day, my feet weren't killing me, but not super happy. I'll wear them again tomorrow to verify, but we're not starting off very well and I've been here before, many times!
To be honest, I've battled arch support problems most my life. 30 so years ago Redwing used to make dress shoes and got it right! I had those black redwings for 18 years and walked right through the sole! They were amazing the entire time! Since, I've tried many other brands and Johnson & Murphy have been the next best arch support, but their shoe quality isn't great and after going through 2 pairs in five years (cheap cardboard toes and heals) I did what I thought was a lot of research and came to Carlos Santos. (Yes, I'm a sucker for great quality and value!) Again, the exterior is amazing as reviewed. But, they apparently (based on feel and looking inside) did NOT consider the inside soul of the shoe! There does not appear to be any attempt at creating arch support, especially proper arch support! There is no cushion or interior support for the primary arch (let alone the secondary and tertiary arches) and they are solely relying on the exterior leather for arch support. In fact, there is very little cushion in the interior period - which wouldn't be a big deal if properly designed; but, seams to compound the problem.
If these weren't the most expensive shoes I've ever bought, the largest single shoe order just over $1,500.00 US I've ever made, the most beautiful shoes that gave me the highest of hopes, or the expression of craftsmanship of excellence in their advertising; it wouldn't be a big deal. As an architect/designer, it boggles my mind that such quality and design can be achieved with no apparent regard to the user's experience! And in this case, comfort! Even my Birkenstock sandles got it right - just look at their foot bed with support of all three arches! If you can't take the time to understand the human foot, then please make a different product or at least, for heaven sake, get with Birkenstock, 3arch foot levelers, Redwing or Johnson & Murphy and have them help you perfect the soul so you can offer the most complete and best shoe ever!!! Now in fairness, I will edit this review and adjust the stars after another day or two of wearing; but it's not feeling good so far and as I've said, I've felt this pain and waste of money before. And about money, the Noble Shoe did not have the style in the color I wanted; so, all four shoes ended up being special made from the Patina department and are therefore, unreturnable! (Which in my view of customer service is lame when your inventory is so minimal; but they do warn us; so, it was my risk and possible stupidity!) And if, as a shoe manufacturer, you cheapened the soul because you were concerned about being above a target price point in the marketplace, then offer an upgradeable, more expensive, correctly designed soul in your custom department, right next to the patina department (which, btw, did an excellent job on the coloration of the shoes!) FYI, Kostas seems like a great owner and wrote me a personal thank you note that came with my order. So, thank you Kostas!
I ordered my boots through the patina service. They are a reddish brown with a nice toe burnish. The fit is perfect and the boots were ready to wear right out from the Noble Shoe. I have dealt with Kostas from the Noble Shoe, and he makes this experience more than pleasant. 5 stars for customer service, and the product.
